Same-day "teeth in a day" implant placement in Chicago

Same-day implants (sometimes marketed as "teeth in a day") place the implant and attach a temporary crown, bridge, or denture in a single visit instead of leaving the site to heal uncovered for months. This is a distinct workflow decision from standard All-on-4/All-on-6 planning: it depends on having enough healthy jawbone for the implant to be stable immediately ("immediate load"), confirmed through a 3D scan beforehand.

  • Walking out with a functional temporary tooth or arch the same day as surgery
  • Requires sufficient bone density and volume, confirmed by CBCT scan pre-surgery
  • Temporary restoration is later swapped for the final permanent one after healing
  • Common for both single-tooth cases and full-arch All-on-4/6 cases

Not everyone qualifies. If bone volume is too low, the clinic will recommend grafting first and a delayed-load approach instead.

What it costs

Same-day protocols typically cost more than staged implant placement because they require more chairside time, a same-day lab or milling setup for the temporary, and often a specialist plus a lab technician coordinating same day. The 3D imaging needed to qualify you is usually a separate diagnostic fee.

FAQ

Is everyone a candidate for same-day implants?
No. You need adequate bone density and volume at the implant site, which is confirmed with a CBCT scan. If bone is insufficient, grafting and a longer healing period come first.
Is the tooth I get on day one permanent?
No, it's a temporary restoration built to function and look reasonable while the implant integrates with bone, usually over a few months, before the final crown, bridge, or denture is placed.
Does same-day placement work for a full arch, not just one tooth?
Yes, this is essentially what All-on-4 and All-on-6 "teeth in a day" protocols do for a full upper or lower arch, provided bone volume supports immediate loading.
